What was really unquie about the way i did the drums track for this was the fact that I played along with the orginal verson of the song.Normally I would do the drum tracks with a click and scratch tracks. What i liked most about about doing this was that I felt like I was haveing the honer of doing tacks for a great front man which I have to say I never really had the chance to meet cause I Joined ledaswan just as fin was have troubles and then he went away for the army and well you know the rest. While i was doing the recording of the tracks in a way i felt moved while i was recording cause now i really understand that he was one hell of a singer.I just hope that the people that know the song as it was likes it just as much as the way we are doing it "know what i mean"sorry inside joke :) .

Ledaswan Recording Ep.2

Recording continues

We plan to try and finish vocals for the song "Faulkner" tonight. We've got lots of footage from the recording process. Look to see that up online soon. Just been a little lazy with the editing. But weshould have more up soon. Last week we finished tracking drums for 2 more songs bringing us to a total of 8 songs so far. We hope to have at least 10 on the album. Hopefully more. More news soon...

Ledaswan starts tracking bass

We have 4 drums tracks in the bag for the new Ledaswan record and last night we started tracking the bass. We got 2 songs down, "Faulkner" and "What a way to Drown". The other 2 songs, "56 Chevy" and "Six is Better" will be done on Wednesday, which means that we will most likely start tracking guitars for those 4 songs this weekend.
Amanda was very cool under all the picking that David and I did on every part of her track. "Hmmm, that note isn't played with enough intensity." or "did you accidentally hit another note under that note? Something sounds weird." A lot of "Just do this whole part over again".

But overall the tracks sound way better for it. We will have some footage of Amanda cutting bass up real soon.

Ledaswan debut new song at Scout Bar

We debuted a new song last night. We haven't even thought about it much. But we do know it's going to have some great songs and it will be a full length. We have been writing a lot lately. Lot of new songs have come from just jamming and putting parts together on the spot. lots of mistakes have made it into the songs. That's partly the whole excitement of writing this way. Things seem to happen. Like "magic".
So we started laying down drum tracks this last weekend. We started off with laying down 4 songs. On our last 2 EPs, we just had Delrick go in and cut all his drum tracks (7 each time) in about 4 to 5 hours. Friday, we went in and just got drum sounds. For about 6 hrs, we just hit drums, recorded them, adjusted mics, retuned them. Till it all seemed to come together to sound like a solid booming beackbeat we wanted to hear.

Saturday, we started the real recording. Only after, we hit one drum for 2 hrs before recording anything. We repositioned and moved that around till we were happy. We got 2 drum tracks down that day. "Faulkner" and "56 Chevy".

Sunday, we went back and cut "Six is Better" and "What a way to Drown". I really feel this is the best that Delrick has ever played. He rewrote a lot of parts while we were recording.

While we were in there, I played Delrick a piece of music I had made with some loops and weird sounds. He immediately jumped on the drums and told me to roll tape, adding his own drums to the mix. We added some huge backing drums as well. Late Sunday night, David and I pulled out the guitars and colored the rest of the song. I don't know what is going to become of this song as of now, but I can tell you it sounds like nothing we've done, but is pretty amazing. I'm excited to see what comes up of it.

We shot a lot of video, that we will put up soon. So, we seem to have a lot of work to do now. We will complete these 4 songs and get to work on recording the rest of the songs as we finish them. This is a very exciting time for us. We hope to see everyone come out to the shows and see what we have been up to. We have a great show this Saturday, Jan 17th at Scout Bar. Also on the bill will be Sandoz and Heather Go Psycho. Show starts at 10pm. Ledaswan goes on at 12am.

Happy New Year

Hope everybody had a great start to 2009

Thanksgiving at The Rabbit

Ledaswan played with Sun*Day at their annual Thanksgiving show. The was great. Everyone was probably still stuffed with turkey, but were extremely eager to drink a lot of beer. and were there to have a lot of fun. Starting off the night was The Next Day. A group of kids 11-14 yrs old that rocked some great classics from Iron Maiden to Ozzie. Imagine a 11yr old boy singing Iron Man.

Ledaswan came on after and we played a nonstop 35 minute set of mostly new songs that we are working on for our next album. We were excited to see that everyone there responded positively towards the new songs and can't wait to start playing them soon. Our set list consisted of:
1. 56 Chevy
2. Six is Better
3. Where Birds Go
4. 357
5. Faulkner
6. New 60's
7. What a Way to Drown
8. Head On

Sun*Day played a great 1hr 15min set of all their classics ( yes they are classic if everyone knows all the words.) See video below.

Closing out the night was One Last Shot. Rick Rios current band. Ironically, starting off their set with a revved up, reggae/punk version of Sun*Day's "What I did for you".

It was a good Thanksgiving

"Sunflower" by Sun*Day

Rock n Roll Marathon

Ledaswan plays the Rock n Roll marathon tomorrow morning. We've been shuffled around the bill with our time slots.... First they said midnight then 9, now it's back to a better time....1¹they told us on arrival to the club. Don't know about this head hunters. Cat Power is playing across the street right now at Stubbs you can hear her Joplin-like croons from the distance through all the city ambience....maybe one day we will be playing there too, hate being dicked around on shows. Music moves me and inspires me and I am always looking for an album that moves me and blows me away. It has been a while since an artist gave me that feeling. Well, last week I found 2 albums that are just making me listen to them over and over.

United Nations

Glassjaw and Thursday have always been some of my favorite bands ever. Well, when I found out that Daryll (singer of Glassjaw) and Geoff (singer of Thursday) made a band together, my first thought was...when will the new Glassjaw album ever come out? So, I took a listen to it and it was so fucking heavy. Not normally one to really like music that heavy, but there was something about the music that kept me listening. Daryll just screams througout the whole thing and Geoff urgently sings and calls out for action. After the first listen, I listenened to it again and could not stop. The breakdowns, screams, and singing are perfect. This is a hardcore classic album like The Refused, The Shape of Punk to Come. Updated for a new generation. My favorite songs on there are "Filmed in Front of a Live Studio Audience" and "Revolutions in Graphic Design". Also check out "Say Goodbye to General Figment of the USS Imagination" The saxaphone solo at the end is pure music bliss.

Filmed In Front of A Live Studio Audience - United Nations

Mogwai: The Hawk is Howling

I've loved Mogwai for a while. I saw them at The Cure festival a couple of years ago and were one of the loudest bands I had ever seen. Also the second band I had ever seen with 2 bass players ( other was Ned's Atomic Dustbin). My favorite album from them had been Come on Die young. Well, I managed to get my hands on The Hawk is Howling ( release date is Sept 22) and was just amazed with this album. It is moody as hell. It's like a roller coaster ride of emotion. There is not one vocal on this album, but it really doesn't need it. The song that make me keep rewinding it right now is "The Sun Smells Too Loud". Take Mogwai and throw in a little My Bloody Valentine into the mix and thats what it sounds like. Here's a clip I found on youtube for one of the songs on the new album. This is "BatCat"

Jaime Monzon

Dear Child

Anthony Green rocking Rock Bottom

Anthony Green and Jaime

The day after Jeremy Enigk played we went and saw Anthony Green at Rock Bottom. This is the first time Rock Bottom has been sold out from what I heard. It was an instant sauna once you walked in. Fire Marshall payed them a visit as well. Lydia made a surprise guest appearance making me very happy as I really love that band. By the time Anthony Green came on the whole floor was wet with what I assume was sweat. I've been a big fan ever since Saosin, now Circa Survive and his solo album. I've met him several times and he is cool as hell. I tried to get close for the closing song, but as you can see from the following video, the crowd was going completely nuts and I couldn't get any closer.

Dear Child - Anthony Green

At the moment I'm growing sleepy and thinking about old friends in my life that are going their own path, how the economy sucks right now and I can barely pay my bills (not wanting you to feel sorry for me please - it's my own fault). But maybe I put it out in the universe that if I did not get a full time job teaching this year that it was a sign that I could focus more on writing, playing, music basically, since it's my livelihood, signals are pointing to in that direction. And so maybe the universe heard my wish and well there I have it. and now what. make it work somehow, I can only do what I can and what god empowers me to will myself.... ? If that makes sense. I believe it's healthy to be humbled. Oh did I mention that my personality type is "Idealist." I took an online test and everything.

I had a funny dream that I was having a conversation with Perry Ferrell (Janes Addiction) and we were getting ready to play at the massive outdoor festival (but on a side stage that was in an awkward position). I then had two dreams about water. Murky waters in a lake that I was trying to get out of, and then a swimming pool where there was a party going on underwater. Threatening to come and hang out right over us. We have a show tomorrow and we thought that we might have to cancel if Ike came along to visit. Looks like we will have rain, but not till Saturday. Wow, I just gave a weather report. So what I am saying is we will be rocking The Blue Bubble Ballroom tomorrow night. We will be doing a semi-acoustic show (if you were at Rock Bottom last week, you know what I mean). It will be David, Erica, and Jaime. Last week we previewed a new song called "Six is Better". We have 3 other new songs. We might decide to preview one of those as well. We will have to see. Blue Bubble is located at 9315 Broadway. Please come out and join us and all the other great bands playing that night. We made some demos the other night of the new songs so we could get a better sense of these new songs and we were pretty blown away. They sound amazing. Our goal is to have a new album out early 2009. We are off to a pretty good start. I do want to say that from Verse of Truth Trash and Beauty, the band seems to have grown a lot. Can't wait for me to hear it. Can't wait for you to hear it as well. Just remember this song title, "What a Way to Drown". We will talk about this again next year.

We Say Thank You

Since we started playing as a band, even going back when I began doing my first open mics at Casbeers, there were some non-believers, but more believers that have stuck by Ledaswan and that love and believe in our music, and that's what matters most. Being in the public eye, your a target for both good and bad critiques. Sometimes just flat out band bashing - even from so-called friends and familiy. I guess if we weren't playing for ourselves and our fans, that it wouldn't really matter.

It makes me live better that someone out there can relate emotionally to what I have to say and what the rest of the band has to say. And I'm thankful that our band works so well together musically and on a personal level. There is definitley something special brewing when we perform on stage, and when we rehearse in our gasoline induced - mostly hot- practice space. So thank you for being supportive (you know who you are) And for those that pretend to hate, or don't like our music, well then there are plenty of other bands out there to listen to....instead.

Thank you for listening...................... ... .
